Ra Cailum – ‘Chimbus’

Right after playing my co-curated GOLDRUSH Music Festival last September, St. Louis’s Anthony Engelhardt (aka Ra Cailum) decided it was time to get serious about producing bass music. But it wasn’t until Anthony linked up with moombahton junky and fellow St. Louis producer, Jay Fay, that his new-found desire to produce bass truly took flight. Since, Anthony has literally buried himself in bass, devouring the rising genre from the inside out; Chimbus is the direct result of these obsessive sessions.
Anthony let us in on his bass-heavy makeover:
Well, me and a friend (he DJs and produces as Jay Fay) worked on a series of tracks this summer and it got me really inspired to take up dance music again! It actually all started with Finding My Way! Anyways, through Jay Fay I started finding all of this awesome bass music (such as Brenmar, Nguzunguzu, Mele, etc) and I really just wanted to try my hand at it! I connected with Think 2wice through Josh (Jay Fay), and they really liked some tracks I had released. “Chimbus” is the oldest of the bunch, followed by “Al-Sham” and “Jaburo”. And I guess that is all I can say! Its been maybe 4 months since I started putting this release together, so I am just realllly glad to see it out!
Kansas City/Seattle label, Think 2wice Records, will release Chimbus tomorrow (May 1st); stream below:
