Rainbow Chan – “Sweet Tooth & Sweet Tooth Remixes”

Rainbow Chan is an eclectic songstress from Sydney, Australia. As if from another world, she crafts songs from the farthest reaches of her imagination. Homemade instruments, music boxes, toys, obscure music makers, and modern electronic production, all mesh together into Rainbow Chan’s unique sound.
“Sweet Tooth” is the first single from her upcoming album. It is dense in production, full of blipping noises, glitching tones, and “strange harmonies rubbing against each other.” If this is a picture of what we have to look forward to, this album, when revealed, may be amongst our favorites of the year. But I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Slowly melting, like caramel dissolving.
These sounds were taken, and re-imagined by two of our favorite Aussie producers, Guerre and Albatross. Collected in a sort of mini-EP, these two remixes showcase each of their unique talents. Guerre’s version is minimalistic, creating an air-like blanket over bits and pieces of the song, making it seem more thin and intricate than empty. While Albatross stretches the track out, burying it in a steady and bouncing beat, with samples of the original making their way to the surface in waves. You can listen below, and go download all three tracks from Rainbow Chan’s bandcamp.
