Yung Life – “Isn’t This”

Last year, Tennessee’s Yung Life brought some gorgeous lo-fi synth pop into the world with Youth’s Hours. That album received a TON of listens from myself and featured a track (“I Be Scared”) that would get stuck in my head for weeks on end. At the tail end of 2011 they put out the track “Breaker” which saw the group stepping into the hi-fi a bit more. I’m always terrified by when a predominantly lo-fi sounding band goes for a larger hi-fi sound. This worked well for Yung Life though—their charm and general pop goodness stayed intact. Now they are about to release a new self-titled, self-released album on June 21st, and the first single from it is “Isn’t This”. Man oh man it’s a good one!
