Visualized: Courtney Asztalos

Courtney Asztalos is an artist based out of Thomasville, GA that has her hands in all kinds of projects. Courtney’s main form of self-expression is playing organ and vocals for Florida native band Jane Jane Pollock. After meeting Courtney, I discovered that she’s an avid photographer shooting with a Bronica as her main weapon of choice. Naturally, I asked Courtney to send me some work; I was unbelievably pleased with what I saw. Courtney’s portrait work shows the honesty in her subjects as well as the strange rural landscape of southern Georgia & northern Florida. From little girls to biker gangs, Asztalos’ subjects have a haunting beauty within them. The same can be said for Jane Jane Pollock. Their sound may bring fond memories of spooky haunted houses at the county fair, and Courtney’s subjects would be the workers and the patrons there. Although Jane Jane‘s album came out in March of last year, their sound is somewhat timeless. If you’re digging it, I’d highly recommend picking up one of their cd’s or vinyls from their label, Elestial Sound.
