Color Plus – ‘Cerulean Dream’ LP

As a lot of you already know, I too have been taken hostage by this new burst of trap-inspired music making its way onto the internet. One of the artists that is pushing the boundaries in this regard has got to be Color Plus from Connecticut. Lars seems to have the bizarre talent of combining ambient acoustic sounds with some truly rhythmic patterns of hi-hats and 808 kicks. The first track off the album, “Fortune Tellers,” is a perfect example of what he’s capable of in terms of combining the most unlikely musical art forms.

Cerulean Dream as a whole sits at a syrupy slow pace, occasionally enhancing the effect by adding some slowed down rap samples over the top. Little Ocarina of Time samples are noticeable throughout the album as well, I should add for all you nostalgia addicts.
