Mala – “Cuba Electronic” b/w “Calle F”

Ever wondered what a combination of the sound system culture of London and the rhythmic leanings of Cuban jazz and salsa might sound like?? Well wonder no more, because dubstep legend Mala (pictured at right), one half of DMZ and one of the genre’s founding fathers, spent a few months in Cuba to figure that out for us. “Cuba Electronic” b/w “Calle F” will see a release on 12″ vinyl on August 6th via BBC Radio personality Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings. This relationship makes perfect sense since Gilles (pictured at left) is known for being incredibly fond of the music that originates out of Cuba. An LP titled Mala in Cuba is to follow in September.
