Fresh Cut: Yung Life – ‘Yung Life’ LP

Tennessee’s Yung Life have made the transition from dense lo-fi pop rock beauty to pure hi-fi pop rock dreams with their upcoming LP. This S/T adventure will be release for pay-what-you-want tomorrow on their Bandcamp, but they were nice enough to let PORTALS give everyone a stream of it right now. The [now] four piece of Elliott White, Gabriel White , Judah White , and Will Farner were also nice enough to give a few words about each song on the LP:
“Isnt This” – Judah wrote this song a while ago before he was in the band (listen to the original).
“Breaker” – This one used to be called” Jason Waterfalls.” The cassette demo sounds cooler than this version. We are planning on putting out all the lo-fi versions of these songs one day if anyone wants to hear em…
“Back For You” – Even though things can really suck for during certain times in life, good times will come back for you.
“Pathfinder” – This song is about going to a new college / living with a bunch of dudes that make you feel like a loser. We 3-way shared a room with our homeboy Persona La Ave…that was tight.
“Find Me” – Gabriel was running and thought up the beat/melody because it matched his foot steps. It’s lyrics are up for interpretation.
“I’m Burning” – We seriously don’t know what to write about this one. Take it as you will.
“Hiding Girl” – This song’s about all you girls hiding from cool dudes like us and hanging with burnouts. um…that’s pretty much it.
“90′s Dreams” – This song is about people who are unsatisfied with everything but don’t do anything about it.
“Holy” – Peace resides in the heart of all human beings. Gotta find it yo.
“Over Time in Time” – Gabriel wrote this song and put it out on his solo album (listen to it here). He wrote it about one of his good friends who passed away last summer.
We recorded all the songs at our house last Fall and Winter. We planned on an EP but it just kept happening until we had a full length. During that time we decided to switch from lo-fi to hi-fi.
