The-Drum – “/SYS”

Chicago’s The-Drum have just allowed their latest single, “/SYS”, to slide out onto their SoundCloud. Its the first piece to be heard from their upcoming release, Sense Net, via NYC powerhouse label Mishka.
The thing about The-Drum that is the most appealing to me is their true dedication to the rhythms in their pieces. Using the 808 as a foundation, their strength lies in their use of organic tom drum sounds to build a muted melody of sorts while defining a rate to nod your head at.
Another aspect that really stands out is their song structure. I truly feel that their is a journey that they want to deliver as can be seen by just looking at the wave forms in their SoundCloud. I whisper the word “journey” to myself every time I listen to their future ghetto track “$”.
