As we drove, the city lights dimmed as if seen through a weary pupil, a heavy eyelid hazily gently washing blackness over my vision. I closed my eyes and imagined her hair waving in the wind. I could feel it. Perhaps it was an inference from the wind in my face. Or maybe it was just my imagination. When I woke up, the city was long gone.
