Some Ember – “Flowers Open”

Self-released this week, Some Ember‘s “Flowers Open” is immediate in contrast to most of what Hotel of Lost Light offered. I’m not really sure why but much of the disparity led me to follow up for a few words on the song. It’s a song that was held on to for a little while, but a few hallucinogens and an email to NFOP later landed the project its continued well-reception.

Dylan Travis writes:

This song is one of those rare transmissions from the ether (not all songs are). I have very little recollection of how it came together. I know that first it was the sequenced bass, pulses from another planet. Real synths are living, breathing entities. reactive. Then the rest fell into place: Nina sang over it and it was transformed, I built a beat, then more aggressive and driving pulses arranged themselves underneath. The lyrics are from a vision I’ve had since I was young, fields of flowers reacting to the moon, to the sun, opening, closing, synchronized, moving in waveform, endless.
