Different Sleep – ‘Infinite’ EP

It’s been completely thrilling to watch Different Sleep (aka Rafa Alvarez) slowly shift into a confident, fine-tuned producer over the past year. His earlier tracks such as “Slow Flow” and “Drive Me Crazy (ft. Soleman)”, showed a high amount of potential that has now translated into something that is very specific and identifiable.
On his first proper EP, Infinite, (released just yesterday via our homies @ Svengali) he aims to highlight a wide variety of electronic music styles that have played a major role in the overall development of the DS sound & aesthetic. You can hear the jittery, quick moving pace of Chicago’s thriving footwork scene on tracks like “Be My Center”, where as tracks like “Infinite” and “Make It Real” dig a bit deeper and explore a more spaced-out territory of experimental, fantasy-driven R&B.
