Major Napier – “Ball Game/Cater 2 u/B Cover”

Major Napier‘s latest piece has been up on his Bandcamp for quite a few weeks now. It still has the same effect on the first listen as it does on the successive ones, weeks later. Its daunting 7 minute length makes it a lush, experimental journey with introductory rainfall and lonesome vocals. Eventually the rain subsides and a steady kick rises through below a blanket of twin peaks reminiscent synth keys. Johnny‘s vocals are quietly thrown into the mix, with a hint of vocoder. This dark pop gem steadily rises and becomes a fully fledged dance piece with the added percussion and a bizarre shoegaze drone.

From Johnny:

Ive been hanging onto this cover for a while now and i recently realised that down tuning it tapped into a whole different emotional place for me. its also the most blatant attempt ive ever made at making a dance track and i played it for the first time when i supported collarbones a couple weeks ago and i noticed people were really going for it on the dancefloor haha which is a pretty cool thing for me. I would love to make a full album of just cathartic dance tracks
