Zaika – ‘Morning Way / Missing You / What They Are’ EP

Waking to the frost kissing the windows / chills setting in. A fire slowly burns out in the corner, only embers leaking light.

I feel like there’s a real rejuvenation, at the moment, in ambient electronica and future garage. Perhaps it’s the seamless fusion of the two, the marriage between bass and ethereality that has come to release such an exciting breath of fresh air in current electronic forerunners. Whatever it is, Zaika out of Stuttgart, Germany is bang-smack in the middle of it all. ’Morning Way / Missing You / What They Are‘ is his latest EP, out for free on the label Plastik Sound UK.

Here are a few words from Zaika about the release:

well, i don’t know what to say about the ep. it’s my third one and it’s different than the other ones. there’s maybe one important thing to mention.., that the ep is based on an experience that i have made about one year ago. it’s adressed to a certain person, i had a really good time with and the music reflects that feeling i had at that time. it’s something that i will always consider as a positve experience that happened to me. you know.., i don’t want to make it too obvious but i hope that there’s at least someone who is able to understand me.

What is future garage? Totally hearing the ambient electronica in this but can’t hear anything that might be associate with garage.

it’s that accesible 2-step bassline. it’s very subtle in this release, more prominent in zaika’s other stuff. these guys explain it better then i could: http://www.earmilk.com/2011/02/17/what-is-future-garage/

      hope this helps :)
