Mountain Range – “It’s Lonely Around People, Too”

Stuart Thomas AKA Mountain Range is never one to back down from creating grand, sweeping soundscapes. He shuns minimalism for a more all-encompassing approach. Gentle beats softly intertwine with delicious backdrops of dreamy colors. His latest song, taken from a forthcoming EP and a standalone free download on Bad Panda Records, is no exception:

The title of Mountain Range’s new song suggests we’re likely to hear the very sound of despondency, where nothing, from time to yourself to moments spent with close friends, can take you out of an empty-feeling rut of sadness and numbness. Except, “It’s Lonely Around People, Too” doesn’t quite mimic its name’s downtrodden state. A glorious mesh of miniscule synth bleeps collides with sweet, floating piano lines. There’s less of a build in this song, more of a continuous glaze of archetypal beauty, inspecting the scene. It gives you that glimpse into outer joy, an indication of life beyond normality. It’s escapism at its absolute core. And it represents the producer’s outstanding work to date.

It’s Lonely Around People, Too is out now through Bad Panda as a free download. Stream below:
