Thrupence – “Don’t You Mind”

Listen to a highlight from the Melbourne-based audio-visual artist’s forthcoming album.

I don’t know what exactly is going on down in Australia, having never been there, but I do know that there must be something going on, considering how their producers keep a quickly aging musical tradition, that of Dilla-inspired heart-and-soulfelt beats, completely fresh. On “Don’t You Mind,” Melbourne’s Thrupence (a.k.a. audio-visual artist Jack Vanzet) gives us the perfect examples, giving us that sweet spot of funkiness and wistfulness that makes a beat a true classic.

You can pre-order Thrupence’s upcoming album Lessons via his Bandcamp, either digitally or on a limited edition paint-splattered vinyl.
