Slow Magic – ‘▲’

If you’ve spent much time on PORTALS, or any of our respective blogs, you know that we’re pretty big fans of mysterious glo-fi wizard, Slow Magic. The first email I ever received from this strange project was on July 21st, 2011 titled “New Artist: Slow Magic”—it contained a Bandcamp link, a vimeo link, an image, an mp3 attachment of Sorry Safari, and the following:
Slow magic is the sound made by an unknown imaginary friend.
遅い魔法は未知の想像上の友人が作った音です。
Slow galdur er hljóðið gert með því að óþekkt ímyndaða vini.
La magie lente est le bruit fait par un ami inconnu imaginaire.
Almost a year later, we’ve seen these smooth sun-drenched sounds personified - well sort of personified, an amazing Feel Good Lost directed video, a European tour, and so much more. And now, at last, we have his debut full-length record ‘▲’. It’s out TODAY on CD and Wax through Lebens Strasse Records. Eight tracks of the finest post chill-wave jams from who knows where. Maybe it’s something in that “Icelandic” water that makes these sounds so good?
But in the words of Levar Burton, don’t take my word for it—stream the whole album before you buy it!
