Old Bricks – “Waves”

Old Bricks is Stuart Edwards and Andy Holmes, the dark folk-rock duo from Chapel Hill. “Waves” is the second track set loose from their upcoming album City Lights, which is due out May 9th on Grip Tapes. I asked Stuart to give me a bit more info about City Lights and the track “Waves”:

City Lights lyrically flows from a desperate paranoid mindset to a more satiated and accepting one while the music tends to lend itself to that slow and steady shift along with the words. “Waves” sort of embodies the spirit of the second half of the album. It is mostly about the fact that giving up completely not only does nothing to help things but in fact makes you a weaker and worse person in the process, and learning to accept that things may never be even close to what you want… but that’s what makes up the human experience, and it can be beautiful if you let it.

It’s getting closer to being summertime in the Northern Hemisphere, but there’s still bound to be some not-so-sunny days somewhere on Earth.  When those happen, City Lights will be there to hear you out— regardless of whether you’re driving through the night to get to Vegas, suddenly to find yourself detoured by the most amazing sparkling desert ever.
