Future Dollars - ‘Summer Weight’

The last time that we checked in with the 6bit affiliated duo, Future Dollars, they had just dropped the gorgeously stunning, “Theme From Future Dollars” off of their debut EP, 10,000 Didgeridoos, which also featured the rising experimental vocalist, A Sol Mechanic.

Over the past few months, Future Dollars have been prepping their second EP (currently untitled), soon to be released through the 6bit label. Thankfully, we’ve got a debut stream of their brand new single, “Summer Weight”. Listen below:

via Future Dollars:

Jake Nadrich: For our new music we’ve had more time to develop some ideas that we only briefly touched on with the first release. However, instead of calculating our outcome we spent a lot of time recording our jam sessions and going back and picking out what we liked. I like to think that relocating back to LA from Upstate New York for the summer has had to some extent an affect on our music. Having this reinstated sense of comfort has definitely affected our process.

Sam Smith: The way we’ve been working recently has been the total opposite of how the first EP was made. Before we only had so much time and worked in really intense durations in the studio. This time we could do things at a more leisurely pace. We kept a studio set up and made music when we felt like it. These songs reflect a much more lax production approach, where we made songs that came from spontaneity and jamming, more so than the more calculated process behind ’10,000 didgeridoos’.
