Monthly Residency: Hundred Waters (Week 2)

For week 2 of their 4-week Residency, Hundred Waters‘ Trayer Tryon shares 18 personally crafted art pieces.
These are all physical objects in some capacity. most are much larger than a laptop screen, which is why you can’t see what the hell is going on. There are other features that don’t get across, such as the feeling that you’re seeing the same thing as their maker, the life events and stories surrounding them, their connection to other unshown pictures, any material/textural/3d significance, etc. These pictures are much unlike songs, which can sit in a phone and play in a car and always be all there. That’s why I make songs-they can be huge and unruly yet fold into tiny specks on the web that anyone can copy and make huge again, anywhere they want, doing whatever else they want to be doing. All you get with these pictures are miserable shrunken squares stuck to the screen trying to destroy your vision, conveying barely any of what they’re meant to represent. These are not chill mp3 streamables to cook dinner to. These were made one at a time, all over the map, in crude physical shapes, with whatever was lying around, for no audience, no culture, and no image resolution. I guess what I’m getting at is this: I can’t expect these pictures to make sense to anyone because [1] you can’t even see them and [2] fuck it. I hope they at least look cool because that’s all we got left here…
