There’s something very special about watching musicians play live. It’s something instinctual that has been passed down from culture to culture over time. With that, it can become increasingly difficult to see your favorite artists play in an intimate setting. There are so many factors to that: the show is sold out, you’re stuck in the back, or the venue is too large to even get close to them. We decided to pick up our cameras and start a new series: PORTALS Sessions. We’re going to be filming some of our favorite artists in the studio and you’ll have front row seats.
For our first session, Empress Of graced us with her beautiful voice and her backing band for an acoustic session at Estuary Recordings. Her bone-chilling vocals and Mediterranean acoustic rendition of “Hat Trick” made our jaws drop. Be on the look out for her upcoming EP, dropping on April 2nd via Terrible Records and Double Denim Records.
