Sable - “Always The Same” & “Bad Love”

Listen to “Always the Same,” the first track from Sable’s brand new split EP.

In a super long story-round-a-bout-kinda way, I was given a death sentence challenge by a friend to listen to nothing but one obscure country musician for two weeks. On the first day, Monday, I tried to work my way up to completely changing my listening habits from blaring offensive electronic music at 9am to the dulcet tones of the singer/songwriter. In doing so, I only had silence. This silence was my warm-up and this silence only lasted three hours before I almost self-destructed. Luckily, I’d come across some brand new Sable recently which I hastily clicked through in order to quench my soul.

Water samples and sonic tribal vox bites craft the rhythm of “Always the Same”, the first track from Sable’s brand new split EP. Petering out in calming intricacies, the track is met with the more house-centric sounds of “Bad Love”. The similar vocal and water samples in both tracks are perfectly teamed with the young New Zealander’s experiments with form and genre. As always, the producer has given us a beautiful audible gift-especially if their is something gnawing away at you.

The EP is available as a ‘Name Your Price’ download at his Bandcamp.
