Dream Sick - ‘Morkkis’

Morkkis [mɔr-kɪs] n.—psychological hangover.

Under the blazing Tucson sun there is a vibrant local scene of devoted musicians and their loyal patrons. As a part of said scene, Dream Sick truly know what it means to be a staple of a local stage and yet struggle to get into the ears of those outside of their own environment. If there is any justice in the world all that will change will the band’s sophomore album Morkkis. Hard work should pay off and there is no shortage of it on display here. Bathing their sound in an acid wash of hypnogogic reverb, the boys have set up camp somewhere between alt-country and psych rock without ever fully bowing their head to either. It’s this resistance to classification that not only sets the album apart but also makes it so hard to describe.

Give it a listen and see for yourself:

Morrkis is available now digitally, on CD, and on cassette (with a little help from Christian Filardo of Holy Page).
