Bad Cello - “Safe Side”

Soak up the sun and listen to the upstate New York band’s latest single.

Bad Cello‘s “Safe Side” paints a picture of boy at home in Upstate New York. It’s one I’m familiar with, having once lived just a stone’s throw away from Zeno’s hometown of Utica. Snow hangs on sad trees and dusts itself from the top of speeding cars, racing against the Lake-effect blizzards. When you’re so hidden from the sun, it’s easy to ask yourself questions as our narrator does, “Am I worth it? Am I hopeless?” You’re stuck inside, bored by a winter blues that won’t give up until mid-May. It’s damn near impossible not to feel wasted with every passing moment.

But with the summer months comes relief. This is where you can find Bad Cello’s new track. Its groovy synth lines heat up quickly like this unforgiving summer sun. It melts you when you meet it, but, oh, how you miss it when it’s gone. “Safe Side” serves as a pleasant reminder to soak up the Vitamin D while you can.

The Finna EP will be available via Double Double Whammy & Miscreant Records this fall. Pre-order the vinyl here.
