As I get up in the morning, I rarely feel like a gradually ascending sunrise or any sort of equally positive force. So waking up yesterday and starting my morning to the dawn of Toronto producer Baby Hide was perfectly satisfying.
“Bare Balloon” feels strikingly earnest and increasingly uplifting as it unfolds from a nascent combination of a piano and washed out vocal samples into a rhythmic creature with a will of its own. As found sounds and familiar drum samples compliment playful piano flourishes and a steady stream of organ energy, I can’t help but picture a bare balloon slowly lifting into the sky and eventually out of sight.
“Bare Balloon” is but a sample of Baby Hide’s debut full-length, Moving Parts, self-released today via Bandcamp.
