Shimmering Stars - “Shadow Visions”

Stream a dark new single from the Vancouver band.

If the name “Shadow Visions” didn’t already tip you off, listening to the new single from Vancouver pop outfit Shimmering Stars will reveal a darker direction for the band. A band who, up until now, specialized in Phil Spector-ized garage-pop with thick harmonies and catchy licks. Now they are dressing themselves up in a much more somber and introspective outfit.

On the new track, the band name-drops Nirvana and Pixies as inspiration, and while I would have always been a loyal sucker for their 1960s teen pop, this new sound is a good look for a band who was probably aching for a change. Catch this track and others on the band’s sophomore album, Bedrooms of the Nation, due out this coming spring.
