Always a reliable source for some iconoclastic hip-hop, Stones Throw has released another promising work. This time it’s the EP White Sands, a product from Queens-based rapper Homeboy Sandman (aka Angel Del Villar). On the standout track “Wade in the Water” we hear Paul White‘s outstanding production in the form of a creeping and infectious bassline that tickles the ears and perfectly complements Villar’s irreverent lyrics: “You know who sucks too? / Every single rapper that I used to look up to / When I was drinking formula I loved you / Son you had a formula that you should have stuck to.”
White Sands is out now via Stones Throw Records.
