Nothing like a simmering build. Bad History Month‘s latest single, “Staring At My Hands,” warms up on itself, curdling over a throbbing, static bass line and a guitar riff that’s all fangs. The song cranks along, metallic on the surface. But a clanging piano and rich, deep vocals sweeping through an existential revelation prove some sweltering nougat under a silver shell. It bleeds that sort of folk punk coming out of Omaha or Seattle in a time not too long ago—personal favorites for summer nights.
The Famous Cigarettes split release—featuring “Staring At My Hands”—will be available via Exploding In Sound Records on June 10th, and vinyl via Limited Appeal Records later this summer. Both bands on the split will be hitting the road this summer; check out the dates listed here, and help the band make it to your neck of the woods!
