Last week I wrote a reflection on Persona La Ave’s new tape Relation / Temptation, and the kind of constructed yet uncomplicated joy that future funk can provide its listeners. Now we hear Keats//Collective artist Ernst Jr. tapping into that same potential. “Sunshine” is a track off of the label’s compilation Future Funk Friday Vol. 3, and features a strutting instrumental sample along with a vocal refrain that could stand as Future Funk’s concise manifesto: “It’s mighty good to see sunshine.”
