Crystal Ghost is the project of Denver-based artist and newest Stereocure affiliate Elliott Baker, whose modern sensibilities work in tandem with a penchant for the retro groove, creating a synthesis that is undeniably unique and tasty. On his debut single “On My Own,” Baker brings us a brooding breed of disco, with a throbbing bass underlying vocals somehow both airy and stylishly mechanical. The sound is at once nostalgic and futuristic, making me long for an unremembered past while still remaining optimistic that I can perhaps, through music such as this, experience it afresh in the future.

“On My Own” will be officially released on October 9th via Stereocure and followed soon after by an EP in November. Crystal Ghost will also be playing two shows in New York this month, on October 10th at Lot 45 and October 18th at the Gutter.
