A song called “I Don’t Give A Fuck About Me” doesn’t seem too surprising coming from the duo who coined health goth. Portland R&B group Magic Fades have so far built an aesthetic around that same serious-but-not-too-serious mindset, from the aforementioned fashion style to their music, which has shifted from glossy, hyperrealistic pop to smooth, bassy R&B.
“IDGAFAM” is one of the first singles from the duo’s new album Push Thru, which will see a release via 1080p on November 25th. It’s got that same tongue-in-cheek delivery: “I don’t give a fuck about me” followed by “we gon’ pop that Cris.’” The album as a whole leans towards a late-night club crowd, heavy on the hook-laden slow jams with adult contemporary guitar solos, “IDGAFAM” being just about the closest thing you can get to a turn up anthem in the Pacific Northwest.
