Considering the great importance PC Music has put on their visual aesthetic, from their elaborate microsites to their glossy HD album covers and press shots, it’s surprising that it took them this long to get involved in the music video business. Last week releases from easyFun and Spinee both came accompanied with music videos of two contrasting styles, toying with an expanded artistic palette just in time for their upcoming SXSW showcase.
“Hell Hound” originally appeared on Spinee’s 2014 64 Thousand Dollar Bombs mix, and its single release gets a video treatment from Sam Lyon a.k.a. Jelly Gummies. Bloated, candy-like canines bark and disfigure themselves to the rhythm, melting and shapeshifting in double time. It’s an uncanny and unsettling image, but the distorted, familiar forms are not only hilarious, but a microcosm for the PC style: just weird enough to make you question your reality.
