Norwegian producer group Rytmeklubben is a multi-faceted, multi-talented collective made up of rising producers like Henrik the Artist, hi tom, DJ Karaoke, and Torjus. The group, affiliated with the rising label Raw Juice, has an EP entitled Girlfriend arriving soon, and as a teaser they’ve released the title track.

“Girlfriend” builds on the bubblegum pop rising out of London and expands it into a more familiar space, adding in vocoded boy band lyrics and a massive stadium chorus. It’s got some nods to familiar themes, like the bubbly percussion of Sophie or the suspiciously familiar “hey!” in the chorus, but beyond that it’s one of the highlights of a genre currently being stretched thin.
