bo en - “by the phone”

Hear a new single from the London-based producer—released in conjunction with Maltine Records’ 10th anniversary issue.

In an era when the dictates of genre and taste often seem to divide listeners into teams battling against each other, London producer bo en has been doing the work of providing music that makes such a cultural war appear frivolous, even irrelevant. Here on “by the phone,” he continues the good fight, with a track that borrows as much influence from the soundtrack to A Clockwork Orange as it does Animal Collective. In his own words: “Abstracting different features and signs from multiple points in time and space can give you something that demands to be considered on its own terms rather than fed into a clear-cut cultural identity, which people can easily determine ‘Yes, I ought to like this’ or ‘No, this is not music for someone like me.’” To which I can only reply, “Right on, brother.”

“by the phone” was released in conjunction with Maltine Records‘ 10th anniversary issue.
