Sumsun - ‘Avey Oliver’ EP

Sumsun, aka Judson Rogers’ Avey Oliver EP offers the perfect middle ground for music fans who enjoy both pastoral synthesis and the hypnotic embrace of house music. Rogers pairs heavenly synth melodies with club friendly rhythms all bathed in gauzy filter sweeps that harken back to Rogers’ earlier work on MATTHEWDAVID‘s Leaving Records. ¥oin - “Digits”
This messy club banger comes from one of the more forward thinking footwork producers I’ve heard. Scotland is one of the less likely places I’d expect footwork to burst out of, but that makes ¥oin‘s sounds even more fresh. I’ve been following this young producer for a bit now, he only rarely releases and is slowly gaining recognition, getting some xlr8r and Dummy love. This track was first heard publicly in a JETS (Machinedrum x Jimmy Edgar) Boiler Room mix from a few weeks back. The track is located on his SoundCloud as a rip from said mix, which frames it nicely in between some other fresh JETS picks. Just listen to those nostalgic TLC vocals getting beat down by those footwork toms…
