Newtimers – ‘Ego’ EP

Leave it to the Swedes to to perfect a sound that originated thousands of miles away and across an ocean. Newtimers are Stockholm natives Andreas Cavaco & Tim Lundblad. They first grabbed my attention last year with their irresistible ”January Love“, which was beautifully reworked by our friend yus and included on our Monthly Mixtape last April.
Andreas and Tim are professional producers who have been making music for a long time. Newtimers has been their passion project, meant to get them away from the restraints that the “industry” can come with at times. And now we have their first body of work: the Ego EP. An interesting title for something as equally fun as it is genuine. It’s an interesting line to tread in R&B but one they do well.
Andreas and Tim were kind enough to say a few words about the EP and why ego is so important:
EGO is spontaneous to the fullest.
We always go into the studio with open minds, nothing planned. We just let it happen. It keeps us playful and innovative.
The EP is just that. Spontaneous and based around our day to day adventures, the world seen through our eyes, lovers touched by our hands. It’s our universe. It’s self centered, as it should be. We’re touching base with everybody, everybody feels, thinks and acts with the self in focus. In bed, at the 9 to 5, in the shower, at the supermarket…you don’t want to admit it, all good. But we all know you’re going for yours. Good or bad…
EGO is you and yours. It begins in you - your story, your history, past, present and above and beyond. EGO baby, 2013′s main accessory.
